這張黑白照片，就是有史以來最清晰的冥王星特寫照片，可以看見冥王星表面凹凸不平，顯示地質活動的證據，根據NASA的專家表示，這些火山都沒有火山口，顯示地質很年輕，大約只有一億年左右，山上更因為低溫覆蓋冰雪，也證明冥王星上是有水存在的，部分結冰的山高度高達3300公尺，這張照片的拍攝的區域，就位在愛心區的最下方，NASA也以第一個發現冥王星的天文學家「湯博」的名字，為這塊區域命名。
